We build with natural materials

We build to traditional standards

We take our time, to consider artistic form and fine detail

Material:

You can't beat the warmth, character, strength and integrity of stone. While natural stone is of course our forté, we also have gotten into building with logs and tree branches. I like to tell people "we've branched out".

Tradition:

We build our projects using time tested techniques. Dry Stone Walls, for example, are built simply. Laying the length of the stone into the wall, the bed plane of the the stone laid level, no verticle joints. All in full cooperation with the principals of gravity. An arch built in defiance of gravity will fail.  An arch built in full observance of gravity may last for all time. There is plenty of modern 'cheats' on the market. New fangled products, spiffy new gadgets, space age polymers--a million ways to give the appearance of traditional craft. The discerning eye can readily appreciate the difference.

It should be noted that both the material choices and traditional building technique preference are both very much informed by a sense of environmental awareness. Our actions have an impact upon the world in which we all share.  Suffice it to say that Devine Escapes avoids wasteful practices. We wish to improve the environment of your yard and property, without compromising the environment at large.

Form and Detail:

A project should be harmonious, fit in with and compliment it's surroundings. Forms and shapes should be thoughtfully considered. When designing a job I look at composition in the same way as I would if I were preparing to create a work of art. When we go in to actually bring that design into reality, we take our time and fit the details in. Nothing should ever feel rushed. Life is too short to eat fast food or perform cheap hardscaping.
