memorial boulder bench delivered

memorial bench with unique stone plaque in bluestone, matching with the seating platform

A selection of Stone Memorials, crafted by my hands within the past year or so

Indoor rock cairn, with carved top. Open Pyramid with Open Sphere.
rock carin stone memorial
Based off a previous design that I originally created outside: The sun and the sacred mountain on solstice day. Here manifested as a stacked stone memorial cairn.
Cancer Memorial, placed on display at a cancer research facility in Boston Harbor.

Another indoor cairn. Using no glue, but instead using a patented all-natural material method to connect the stones together. I sometimes call pieces held together in this way “tinker toy temples”.

*joined using wooden dowels, hence the “tinker toy” reference.

Benches as Stone Memorials

A unique memorial bench, with novel configuration.
boulderl bench
As fate would have it, one day I came upon an excavator pulling these lovely boulders out of the ground, and I pulled over in my truck to ask what he planned to do with them. These boulders were of the right size and the right shape that they gave me an idea….sure, a simple enough of an idea. But often the best of ideas are quite simple. The idea was: hey, maybe I can connect these bench legs to the seating platform in an interesting manner.
And while I was contemplating these very boulders someone requested of a me a memorial bench.

We custom created a plaque with lettering engraved upon a piece of bluestone, matching with the seating platform.

For this bench, a more conventional bronze plaque was ordered up and we inset it in place. Cool bit of design here, with the leaf in the upper corner of the plaque busting out of the frame, and so we carved the stone to accommodate this irregular shape. Delivered to St Louis Missouri.
pyramid stone memorial
This pyramid too was commissioned as a stone memorial. But not a memorial to remember a departed loved one, rather a memorial to celebrate the birth of a newborn family member. Built at my workshop in the Poconos and delivered to upstate New York.

This last Stone Memorial is actually Not my work:

student work. Cairn building consultation
I didn’t build this last piece at all. Rather one of my consultation customers sought me out for guidance and during a 1 hour conversation I described to them how to build an Egg Cairn, using the materials which they told me they had access to. What a lovely job they did, truly impressive work and a beautiful tribute to their loved one.

Thank You
